Stanley
McCLINTON KARMA STANLEY
is an
international filmmaker with well over thirty years
of experience working on over one hundred films,
videos, and television production credits as a
director, cinematographer and editor. "Take No Prisoners" is the first feature length movie that McClinton Stanley has directed. Mr. Stanley has
worked with Spike Lee, Ossie Davis, Melvin Van
Peeples and Lindsey Barrett.
McClinton Stanley was raised in Denmark, South
Carolina and graduated from Voorhees High School in
1963. He served four years in the US Navy with two
tours in Viet‑Nam. Mr. Stanley was trained in the
film industry from 1968 to 1972 at the National
Educational Television and Film Workshop, the
Community Film Workshop and the Third World Cinema
in New York City.
He
produced his first film in 1971, "TO LIVE AGAIN", a
documentary about the Ibo people's struggle for
survival and national unity after the Biafra War in
Nigeria. In 1978, while living in Nigeria, Stanley
won the “Best Television Drama Award”, for "MOMENT
OF TRUTH", at the First National Nigeria Television
Authority Drama Festival. Back in the USA he was
part of a film team that won the “Golden Eagle
Award” in 1985, for the Most Prestigious Documentary
of the Year, "DIGGERS", an historical account of the
development and building of the Panama Canal.
In l995
he directed "SARAH" which won the “Best Music Video
of the Year”, at The Gabon West Africa Music
Awards. Stanley was one of the cinematographers for
the film "WHEN WE WERE KINGS", the 1997 Academy
Award winner for The Best Documentary Feature.
In 1995
Korna Stonz Productions, Inc. was created to foster
the new direction Mr. Stanley was taking in his
career. He became more committed to developing
meaningful projects for future production and to
create services that small businesses, non-profit
organizations, the faith community and those in the
arts could utilize. He expanded his production
company to include professional, high-quality
digital video (DV) production and internet services
and content for film, video and internet
production.
He is
the director, editor and co-executive producer of “BONE
BRISTLE“, a work-in-progress which documents the
spoken word community. He directed and produced the
CFC media campaign for the United Way of New York
City featuring actor Morgan Freeman.
Mr.
Stanley developed a 30 minute television show,
“MONEY MATTTERS” about the “how to's” of
entrepreneurship with a demo that he produced and
directed. He produced twenty-six, thirty minute
cable television shows called “HARVEST REPORT”
hosted by Kermit Eddy, President of the Black United
Fund of New York and Ron Daniels, President of The
Institute of Constitutional Rights.
He has been an
adjunct professor at City College of New York where
he taught in the Film Department. Currently, McClinton is a cinematographer for the “Peabody
Award” winning television series, "Russell
Simmons Presents Def Poetry”, airing on
the HBO cable network. He also produced a music
video for a rap group, “A.B.L.”, Dech'm Records. He
is a two time grant recipient winner for film from
The Brooklyn Arts Council where served as a judge
for film in 2004.
DEBORAH BATTLE
POINTER
Deborah Battle Pointer
is Co-Executive Producer of the Peabody Award
winning television show “Russell Simmons Presents
Def Poetry”, a television series on the HBO cable
network and Executive Consultant to the Tony Award
winning Broadway show, “Def Broadway on Broadway”. “Ungodly Council” is the first feature film that she
has produced. She created and produced at the Chashama Theater on 42nd Street in NYC
“The Urban Theatre Arts Festival” which featured
eight (8) dramatic plays written by young
playwrights and “Bone Bristle”, a spoken word
documentary.
Deborah
was born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut and
received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology
from SUNY Cortland and a Master of Science degree in
education from Cambridge College. The issues of
access and equity have been the cornerstones of her
academic career. For the past thirty years she has
worked in higher education, served her community as
a volunteer and maintained her involvement in the
creative arts.
In
October, 2001, under their company, Bone Bristle
Entertainment LLC, Deborah and her business partners
created a poetry anthology published by Random
House, "Bum Rush the Page". The anthology featured
the works of 200 poets and has sold over 20,000
copies to date.
Deborah
was the Associate Dean of Admissions and Financial
Aid at Cornell University and the first black woman
to be the Director of Admissions at the Columbia
University School of Engineering and the first black
Director of Financial Aid at Columbia College of
Columbia University. She has also served as the
Director of Financial Aid at SUNY Downstate Medical
Center serving undergraduates and medical students.
While living in Ithaca, New York she was elected to
the Ithaca School Board where she served two terms.
Deborah
is currently a consultant to the Chairman of the
Department of Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital
at Downstate where she is involved in development
and community outreach and an adjunct professor at
Metropolitan College in the Human Services
Department. She is also one of a few African
American Christmas and Kwanzaa ornament designers
and was featured as an Editor’s Choice in
“Decorative Gifts and Accessories” magazine.
Ms.
Pointer has authored several magazine articles on
financing a college education and has worked on a
series of videotapes on financial aid for students.
The videotapes aired on the Public Broadcasting
television stations in the New York tri-state area.
For many years she was a consultant to ESPN on
selecting the High School Athlete of the Year.
Deborah is currently a member of the Brooklyn
Borough President's Task Force on BCAT, former
President of the Rutland Road Block One Association
and a member of numerous community based fundraising
committees. She has co-hosted a weekly cable access
television show “Free Wheeling” and is currently in
development with two new shows. Deborah is a
published poet and recently completed her first
novel about miscegenation. |
